5 DIY Festive Table Decorations

With every new season comes a new reason to celebrate.

We're approaching Christmas time, and I’m sure we have all spent quite a bit on Christmas presents for family and friends. Many also take this festive season to travel -- another big expense. If, like me, you have invited some friends over for New Year's Eve, there's a high chance you won't want to spend a dollar on your table decoration. I feel the same!

I want my table to look amazing for my guests but I don't want to spend too much. Thus, I put some thoughts into how I could decorate my dining table in a festive way without breaking the bank, and came up with these 5 tips...

1- Get tree branches from your flower shop next door and spread them on the table top as a centrepiece.

2- Take a few Christmas ornaments from your tree and display them here and there on the dining table, or on the tree branches themselves to bring a few touches of gold, silver, white and red, adding some colour to your table decoration.

3- Customise napkin rings. There so many ways to craft beautiful napkin rings to put the finishing touches on your festive table decoration. For example, you can buy some cheap red and/or gold ribbon and tie a nice bow around each napkin. Then get some red and white candy canes from your local supermarket and place one on each napkin, below the ribbon bow. It can be as simple as that, and really adds some casual, festive elegance to your table.

4- Look for any candle and t-light holders you might have at home and display as many as you can on the dining table. You can put them around the room as well, on consoles, side tables and coffee tables, to name a few places.

5- You can also customise t-light candles using masking tape if you're looking for something different.
