It is a well-known fact that home decor accessories work better grouped in odd numbers. Whilst this is true, be very careful not to overload on the groups you have displayed in your house! When it comes to home decoration, it is not the quantity that counts.

Among the pool of odd numbers, the number 3 is considered by most interior designers to be the perfect number!

One example would be that of colour: it is highly recommended to have no more than three colours in a single room. Whilst these three colours complement each other and add vibrancy to a room, any more than that is often not harmonious. Instead of having these colours complement each other, they now clash.

The magical “rule of 3” also can be seen in your household accessories. You should avoid putting more than 3 different types of accessories in the same place. You can, however, play around with the repetition of different trios! For example, you can display 3 vases, 3 candles and 3 frameworks on the same shelf.

Most importantly, as you play around with variations of trios, stay clear from having three of the exact same accessories displayed together. It would be way too repetitive!

To have a slight differentiation between the same type of home accessories, within the trio you can still play with colour, shapes, size and texture. One way to do this would be to choose 3 candles of different sizes, 3 vases of different shapes, or 3 frameworks of different colours.

The possibilities are endless, so just follow this golden rule of 3 and discover for yourself what kind of amazing spaces this creates!
