When I tasted Delphine Giron’s Honey Bread for the very first time, delicious memories from my childhood resurfaced. After such a reaction, I decided I would dedicate a post to her absolutely delicious bread.

French national Delphine launched her own brand – Carré Pain d’Épices – in 2011. She says “Carré Pain d’Epices is a brand that combines flavours from the West and Asia with authenticity, simplicity and style. Most importantly it values above all the quality of the ingredients. Each Carré Pain d’Epices has irresistible fragrances, which expresses the subtle combination of honeyspicesdried fruits, and citrus flavours, giving it a unique taste“.

When Delphine decided to craft her own honey bread recipe, she studied the origins of bread and cake, discovering that such cakes had already existed in Asia for a long time. Her recipe is eggless, dairy-free and fat-free. She came out with 4 different flavours: “Original” which honours the source of natural honey and organic spices, or “Ginger” and “Chocolate” which revisit the original recipe with touches of candied fruits and dark chocolate if you’re looking for something different.

During my photo shoot with Delphine, I tried to create different settings depending on the time of the day. This is to show how honey bread is not just for tea time, but can be served all day long.

Here are a few of my recommendations
:

– For breakfast, Delphine recommends spreading salted butter on slices of her honey bread. I’ve tried it for myself, and believe me when I saw it’s delicious! With every bite, there is first the sweetness of the honey followed by the nutty flavour of the butter… and finally the salt gives it a kick which brings you to heaven!

– For a snack, try the “Chocolate” version. With nothing else on it, just the pure bread on its own. After their first bites, my kids were already asking for more!

– At apéritif time, cut the honey bread into small squares or rectangles, and add some toppings. Try cheese, pestos or even Foie Gras. This makes for some very unique canapés, and are really delicious I must say.

– Last but not least, Delphine’s honey breads are presented in very elegant square boxes, which make them the perfect gifts to offer your friends and family this festive season. Gift them a little piece of heaven! As seen in the picture below, one idea can be to display a box in each of your guests’ plates for a beautiful effect.

If you’d like to order some honey bread, you can visit Delphine’s store here.
I’ve already placed my own orders and can’t wait to receive and savour them!
