Back in 2013, industrial designer Rebecca Uth launched Ro – which means calmness in Danish-, with “the human being as the focal point of everything she does”. Ro collection includes beautifully crafted and design-centric flower vases, kitchen tools, storage pieces, tableware and hurricanes.
Rebecca Uth launched her own design studio in 2000, right after she graduated from the Danish Design School (Copenhagen) as an Industrial Designer. She joined design firm Georg Jensen in 2008 and finally traced her own path with the launch of Ro in 2013.
She is now the creative mind behind Ro. Jacob Wagner, Aurélien Barbry, Nina Erichsen, Mikkel Karlshoj and Rune Frederiksen joined her in this new adventure. They are the artists, designers, sculptors behind Ro’s sleek, minimalist, and peaceful collection.
I could use my own words to describe their products’ philosophy but Rebecca’s are much more powerful. Here they are:
“The human being is the focal point of everything I do. I want to seduce, wonder and change people through objects. To me, design must relate to the body and soul and must be felt, tasted and seen – sometimes unexplained and on an inaccessible level, sometimes just an everyday wonder.” Rebecca Uth
Does it sound like the description of Art to you? it does to me! And you’ll see while browsing their collection of products and watching their movies, that every single of their creations is art!
Wonderfully designed and crafted by gifted artisans with quality in mind, Ro products are truly amazing. Some of my favourites include their blue flower vases, navy tableware and yellow hurricanes. I had a crush as well on the wooden toolboxes, mill and salad servers when I first saw them!
